Heal the Bay respects your right to privacy: 

This document describes our privacy policy for transactions conducted in person, via email, postal mail and through our website. Any changes to this policy will be posted at this location. We encourage you to read the entire policy. 

 

PERSONAL INFORMATION 

We will not sell your name, address or phone number. We will never send mailings on behalf of other organizations to our donors, and we will never share a donor’s personal information without their specific permission. For exceptional stewardship of your gifts, we adhere to a DONOR BILL OF RIGHTS: Your gift to Heal the Bay helps hold polluters accountable, keep our beaches safe and clean, and inspire thousands of kids each year to become ocean stewards. And with 75 cents of every dollar going toward our award-winning programs, you can give with confidence. Your donation is tax-deductible to the extent provided by law. 

 

FINANCIAL INFORMATION 

All submitted financial information is used only to complete the specified transactions. All paper documents containing personal financial information are regularly shredded. All electronically transmitted financial transactions are done via secure encrypted transmission. We will not sell, rent or trade your financial information. 

 

E-MAIL 

We are committed to keeping your e-mail address confidential. We do not sell, rent, or lease our subscription lists to third parties, and we will not provide your personal information to any third-party individual, government agency, or company at any time. We will use your e-mail address solely to communicate Heal the Bay information. Heal the Bay will maintain the information you send via e-mail in accordance with applicable federal law. Please contact us at any time if you wish your e-mail address to be excluded from any future email mailings. 

 

HEAL THE BAY WEB SITE 

Most of our web site is accessible without entering any personal information. However, some activities, such as all financial transactions for our Store, Membership and Online Donations, require the submission of personal and/or financial information. Other activities may require the collection of your e-mail address. Personal information, financial information and e-mail addresses collected via our web site are governed by the relevant parts of this privacy policy. By visiting our web site (www.healthebay.org), you are accepting the practices described in this privacy policy. 

 

NOTICE CONCERNING CHILDREN 

Heal the Bay is committed to protecting the privacy of children accessing our Programs and Services. We fully support and are in compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act, though we are not subject to its provisions as a non-profit.  

 

Please note the following: 

  • We require the consent of the parent or legal guardian of any Guest under the age of 13 before we collect or use any Personal Information. 
  • Schools may act as the parent’s agent and can consent under COPPA to collect a child’s information on the parent’s behalf, limited to the educational context of our programs 
  • If we collect Personal Information from a child, it is only to be able to furnish information regarding participation in programs. 
  • We do not ask children for other information, and we never share the information we collect with anyone outside of Heal the Bay. 
  • At any time, a child's parent may review the child's Personal Information, ask us to delete it, and refuse to allow any further collection or use of information from the child. 
  • You may consent to our collection of Personal Information from your child by contacting us to identify yourself and your child and authorizing us to collect personal information from your child. 

 

Thinkific.com PRIVACY POLICY

Heal the Bay coursework and site is hosted by Thinkific Labs Inc. (“Thinkific”). They provide us with the online course creation platform that allow us to sell our product/services to you. 

Your data is stored through Thinkific’s data storage, databases and the general Thinkific application. They store your data on a secure server behind a firewall. 

 

SECURITY 

To protect your personal information, Heal the Bay takes reasonable precautions and follows industry best practices to make sure it is not inappropriately lost, misused, accessed, disclosed, altered or destroyed. 

If you provide us with your credit card information, the information is encrypted using secure socket layer technology (SSL) and stored with a AES-256 encryption. Although no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, we follow all PCI-DSS requirements and implement additional generally accepted industry standards. 

 

COOKIES 

We collect cookies or similar tracking technologies. This means information that our website’s server transfers to your computer. This information can be used to track your session on our website. Cookies may also be used to customize our website content for you as an individual. Thinkific may use web analysis tools that are built into the Heal the Bay SEA Education (Science, Environment, and Action) website to measure and collect anonymous session information. 

 

AGE OF CONSENT 

We do not knowingly provide services or sell products to children. If you are below the age of 16, you may use our website only with the permission and active involvement of a parent or legal guardian. If you are a minor, please do not provide us or other website visitors with any personal information and do not use this website. If we learn we have collected or received personal information from a child under 13 without verification of parental consent, we will delete that information.
